Calling All Art Enthusiasts! You're invited to a fine art print sale at Art Division. This special event is part of our year-long celebration—15 Years of Art Division.
On Sunday, April 27, Art Division will open its doors for an exciting sale: Limited Run: Print Sale at Art Division. This special event will showcase prints from a diverse group of students, faculty, and blue-chip artist, providing a rich variety of artworks that span both new talent and established names in the art world. It is a perfect occasion for both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers to invest in meaningful art while supporting Art Division’s impactful programs. Prints by John Nava, Tom Knechtel, Robin Mitchell, Roger Herman, and Fernando Sandoval will be available alongside work by Art Division students and instructors. Artistic Director Dan McCleary will offer a rare selection of trial proofs created over the past 25 years in Oaxaca at Taller Sangfer, under the direction of Sandoval—who, in 2010, helped us establish our very first etching press, laying the foundation for what has evolved into one of our most beloved programs.
What began in a modest apartment on Rampart Boulevard has grown into the Sam Francis Print Studio, a cornerstone of Art Division’s creative life. Housed today in the same storefront as our gallery, the studio is alive with energy every Saturday during class and throughout the week as students return to hone their skills. Guided by our dedicated instructors--Javier Carrillo, Victor Reyes, and Elì Magdalena—Art Division’s printmaking community has flourished. Students learn traditional methods like drypoint etching and block printing, as well as a reductive linoleum technique akin to Japanese ukiyo-e, a delicate and disciplined process that requires extraordinary care and precision. Printmaking is at once collaborative and solitary. Repetition, patience, and persistence are pillars of this practice. By nature, editioned prints offer art to many—not just one. It is, in essence, a democratic form of expression. |
Shop with PurposeEvery purchase made during our print sale directly benefits Art Division's mission—training and supporting under-served young adults who are committed to studying the visual arts.
By acquiring artwork from the sale, collectors will play a key role in sustaining programs that empower young artists and foster lasting change in the arts community. This is a chance to not only add beautiful art to your collection, but also make a tangible difference in the lives of aspiring artists. Art Division invites the public to join in this celebration of creativity, mentorship, and community support. |
“Fifteen years ago, Art Division started with just 10 students in a small room. Today, we’ve grown into a thriving arts community with over 100 students, a world-class library, gallery, kitchen, media lab, painting studio, and a state-of-the-art printmaking facility. Now more than ever, providing high-quality arts education and a safe, creative space for underserved young artists is essential. We can't do it without you.” |
