These coarse but eloquent images—one in sunlight, the other in nighttime—render two aspects of immigrants traveling to the U.S. In one, men duck under a barbed wire fence, in the other they slog along railroad tracks. While the prints masterfully explore compositional aspects of chiaroscuro and perspective, they do not ignore the emotional content of the images.
