Development

Additional opportunities for professional development and civic engagement include artist exhibitions, job opportunities, international exchanges and community service.

Special projects at Art Division occur throughout the year and are open to matriculating, enrolled students and fellows. Special projects range from art exhibitions and local public art projects to international exchange experiences and community service.

• Gallery Space: Art Division’s gallery space exhibits original work by students and local professional artists.  Our gallery gives students an opportunity to create work for display and interact with professional artists. Since opening in 2010, the gallery has become a pivotal space for younger artists to present their work publicly. 
  

• Exhibitions: Additionally, Art Division holds student art exhibitions in partnership with museums, galleries and public spaces.  Past shows include exhibits at The Huntington Library,  Annenberg Beach House, Mexican Consulate, Museo Nacional de la Estampa, USC Fisher Museum and Tom N Toms Coffee Shop.​

• Networking: Art Division serves as a supportive space for emerging artists to network with each other, learn about and connect with potential job opportunities, and share resources for further professional development. Past paid projects include creating original mural art for OutFront/JC Decaux at city bus stop shelters in the Rampart District, creating murals for LAUSD to beautify a local high school, gaining on-set experience as production assistants for local companies like Blumhouse Films and Tremolo Films, and assisting local artists, etc. We have also sent students to Oaxaca, Mexico through our Intercambio artist exchange project in collaboration with local art school La Curtiduria.
