This delicate image of a flying hummingbird is made even more precious by being decorated with peonies, a showy flower with an extremely short blooming period. All hummingbirds are native to the western hemisphere, with most originating from Mexico. Indigenous cultures prize them for their great strength, despite their small size, and the jewel-like iridescence of their feathers.
