aquatint, sugarlift, and drypoint

acuatinta, acuatina al azúcar, y punta seca

The artist’s muse, a young man who is an actor and dancer, posed for this image. The dramatic lighting and subject’s elegant, theatrical posture contrasts with the mask he wears of a crying pig. The image explores issues of male nudity, sexuality, and allure while also questioning assumed male roles of animal aggression and voraciousness. While darkly humorous and somewhat sad, the figure also becomes the viewer’s object of desire.
