I trod alone on the plains
and rocky terrain
Pondering the inherit contradictions
of my existence           
 
The U.S. government hunted me
to near extinction
Disconnected me from Spirit and harmony
Now I am the national mammal
of North America
 
I am resilient
My numbers may have been reduced
by millions
Yet I continue to preserve
Trotting with no fear
Guarded by Spirit
