ART DIVISION LECTURE SERIES

VICTOR MORTALES

Please join us for an exciting presentation with Art Division’s Artist in Residence, Victor Mortales. Since his arrival on May 17, Victor has been exploring multiple disciplines, including transfers, etchings, action, and paintings, influenced by his time in the Westlake Community and its profound connection to the ever-evolving landscape of Los Angeles.

Víctor Mortales (Oaxaca City, 1985) is a visual artist with a background in linguistics. His artistic practice is multidisciplinary, encompassing photography, drawing, text, and performance. Exploring the relationship between ideas and materials, he creates works that engage with the ephemeral nature of the creative process.

Mortales has received training from esteemed institutions such as the Academia de San Carlos, the International Center of Photography, the Centro de la Imagen, and the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín. Since 2011, he has also been sharing his expertise as a photography instructor.
